Factsheet

  • API IPA was brewed by the brewing geniuses at Bale Breaker using the Fibonacci Sequence. 🔍 Click for Hop Bill
  • API IPA is a palindrome. It tastes the same forwards and backwards.
  • This beer will give you and your team data superpowers*.
  • For a more legitimate claim to data superpowers contact the team at Loftus Labs, who help small and mid-sized companies (breweries included) do more with their data.
  • Beer enthusiasts will be able to enjoy API IPA at the CBC 2025, and Bale Breaker Brew Company in Yakima, WA during April 2025.

Glossary

Application Programming Interface (API)
A set of rules and protocols that allows different software applications to communicate with each other, enabling data exchange and integration between systems. Modern web services rely heavily on RESTful APIs, which use HTTP methods to access and manipulate data resources. APIs power everything from social media platforms and payment systems to weather apps and data analytics tools, forming the invisible backbone of our digital ecosystem.
India Pale Ale (IPA)
A hoppy beer style within the broader category of pale ale, characterized by an increased hop bitterness, flavor, and aroma. Originally brewed with extra hops as a preservative for the long journey from England to India during the 18th century. Modern craft IPAs typically range from 40-80 IBUs (International Bitterness Units) and feature distinctive hop varieties like Cascade, Citra, and Simcoe. The style has evolved into numerous sub-categories including West Coast IPA, New England IPA (hazy), and Session IPA.
Fibonacci Sequence
A series of numbers where each number is the sum of the two preceding ones: 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, etc. Found throughout nature, art, and mathematics, the sequence is closely related to the Golden Ratio (approximately 1.618), as the ratio of consecutive Fibonacci numbers approaches this value. In nature, Fibonacci patterns appear in pinecones, sunflower seed arrangements, nautilus shells, and even the branching of trees—demonstrating how mathematical principles underpin natural design.
Palindrome
A word, phrase, verse, or sentence that reads the same backward or forward. For example: "Never odd or even".
